10 Years Later...

Image
Well, we had our 10 year reunion this weekend. We were saying how 10 years sounds like such a long time and it didn't seem like it could have been that long. But, at dinner, going through our senior yearbook, it did feel like a lifetime ago. I really had a great time in high school- awesome friends, incredible memories and opportunities. It was nice to see who I saw- we only had about half show up (8 couples on Saturday night, 11 class of '98 alumni at the game). Pictures for Maggie (missed you, hon!!!) Christy, me and Rachel Me and Rach with a class photo from left: Heather's husband, Jimmy Gresham and his wife from left: Susie (Kyle's wife), Carly's husband, Carly, Heather What I loved about high school: - first and foremost is the friendships. I have yet to forge the kind of friendships I had in high school, and luckily for me, I am still in contact with most of them. Too many memories to recount, but my best friends and I were always together and looking out for...

Too funny not to share

First off, thanks to all the comments and suggestions on the blog situation. I really did want to hear your thoughts and I appreciate it. I even found out about some new people reading my blog that I did not know about!! That is always fun! So, thank you and for now this blog will remain public. Ok, so this week in Senora Ballard world, I heard some funny stories and just had to share. In one of my classes, we got to talking and never quite got to the Spanish lesson. I figure, hey, that is ok every once and a while. They really wanted to talk and tell me some things, and I think it is important to listen. A boy: Do you know what? After school, I have a dentist appointment, and if I do good I can go to McDonalds! A girl cutting him off: McDonalds clogs your heart. (she is oh-so-serious!) Same girl: Do you know something exciting is going to happen after my dog dies? My mom is going to take me to a pet store and I will get a kitty! Me: Oh, is your dog sick? girl: No, but he will die eve...

SCS Picnic and fun pictures at home

Image
Last week we went to the SCS Family Picnic. The kids had SO much fun running around the football field and playing on the bounce houses. Lucy running around on the Eagle in the middle of the field I couldn't even get a picture of Walker, he never stopped!! I was exhausted after an evening of keeping up with them. I didn't need to be right next to them, but I wanted to make sure I at least knew where they were. Goodness! One of me, and two of them running in opposite directions the whole night!!! I did get a break when they went down this slide...like, 50 times!!! Jojo came over last night, and took my camera hostage. She always gets some cute ones! Walker and his Speed Racer cars. All from General Mills cereal boxes!! Lucy and her Daddy

Valentine's Parties

Image
We have had some fun this week getting ready for Valentine's Day. At this age, every holiday is a big deal with the kids, and this one is no exception. They had their parties at ARK School today. It is so fun to have both kids there this year! Lucy working on decorating the cookies for her party Austin giving Walker a valentine Lucy and Mrs. Campbell. Her grandson is in Lucy's class!!! Lucy's eyes got big when I told her that Mrs. Campbell used to be my teacher. *Unrelated note* This is how I found Lucy last night when I went to check on her before we went to bed. Can you find her?? Nope, not in her bed. On the floor, amidst all her friends... And this is how I found her tonight...

Cooking with Senora Ballard

This week, I made corn tortillas with all the kindergarten classes. Normally, I have each kindergarten class everyday (Monday-Thursday). During "tortilla week", I take one kindergarten a day, so I have time to go through the whole tortilla making (and eating!!) process. This is my second year to teach Spanish to the little guys, and do the tortillas. It is always a favorite activity!! !Muy Delicioso! The masa Masa is what the dough is called. It is corn flour (found at the store), salt and warm water. The masa in the tortilla press A pressed tortilla! On the griddle, almost ready... YUMMY!! The kindergarteners enjoy their tortillas. I brought butter and salsa, I was surprised how many of the kids wanted salsa on their tortillas. I know I don't talk about my job too much, but I really enjoy it. I purposely majored in elementary education, because I didn't think I was "cut-out" for early childhood. It takes a special person to be a teacher, but I believe that ...

BE ADVISED, CLASS OF 1998...

I know, I know, who wants to think about the fact that we have been out of high school for 10 years?? But, next year is our 10 year reunion. I emailed Sherri Aaron, she is in charge of alumni relations, and told her I had been talking to some of my classmates about the reunion. She emailed me today and said, "Yes.. I will help with the planning..I want to combine your 10yr reunion with homecoming. I talked to Heidi Benda today so I am working on trying to get all of class of 1997 current. If you have any contact info on your classmates please send that to me. I am currently working on a web site and a database.. Thanks" Her email exactly. I guess she meant 1998, when she said class of 1997, because I don't really care about her trying to get class of 1997 current. ANYWAY, you can email her your current address at saaron@southwestchristian.org. Also, please, if you don't mind, post something like this on your blog, or put in a link to mine, because we want to get th...
