Half Birthdays!

Image
In February, I was filling in our wipe off board calendar of our monthly events (which by the way, I LOVE our white board calendar and if I was still doing Friday Favorites it would totally be one of them. It has been such a great instrument in teaching the kids the concept of time and days) and realized that February 16th is Walker's 1/2 birthday. I put a big 5 1/2 on the 16th with a "W". Walker got all excited and wanted to know what that was. We talked about 1/2 and all that for a bit, and Jason told him that he could choose what we had for dinner that night and even get a special dessert. Well, I'm sure you can tell where this is going- now half birthdays are a BIG deal for the Ballards. He chose homemade pizza for dinner and we had cupcakes that he and his sister decorated for dessert. We even invited Jason's parents for the special occasion. It was really fun, and now he enjoys telling everyone that he is 5 1/2.So, of course, Miss Lucy wanted to know when he...

Go Rangers!!

Baseball season has begun and the Ballards are thrilled!!! The kids are Jr. Rangers this year, so they got cool backpacks (that they now use as their school backpacks everyday), vouchers for tickets so we can go to more games, and VIP passes. The VIP passes allow them to run the bases after Sunday afternoon games. Our first game of the season, 4/11 Running the bases after the game: Walker's in the red T-shirt coming to 3rd Walker's touching 3rd and Lucy is in a dark blue T-shirt coming to 3rd Walker's coming home and Lucy's right behind him Here she comes!! They loved it!! We hope to go to more Sunday games so they can do it again. Happy baseball season!

Random Photo Shoot...

What better place for an impromptu photo shoot than at a HOSPITAL??!!! My sister had an emergency appendectomy a week ago and she was in the hospital for several days. All is now well with her, thank goodness. Lucy and I (Walker was off doing big boy things, like having a SLEEPOVER) went to visit Jojo and on our way out Lucy wanted me to take her picture. She proceeded to pose and move around the front of the hospital (where the trees and flowers were) for about 10 minutes. I did not pose her or tell her to do any of this. Random photo shoot time!!! The last two are my favorite and it is worth noting she also picked out her outfit this day as well. I really am not picky about what she wears- my only rule is IT MUST MATCH. She's getting good at that part, and honestly, I kind of like her funky, fun style.

Easter 2010

Image
Wow...2010. Crazy! Anyway, Easter was fun. All holidays are fun now with the kids being older. They get it, they know what to do, they remember from previous years- it's great! Saturday night we had Easter dinner with the Wrights, then Sunday was Easter lunch at Fort Worth Club and egg hunt with the Ballards. The kids and I dyed eggs and made place cards for the dinner Saturday night and we also made birds nests. Birds nests are rice krispie treats but with chow mein noodles and you mold them into muffin cups and refrigerate. Fill with coconut and jelly beans for edible birds nests!! We also dipped the edges in white chocolate and then sprinkled for some color. Ready for hunting Saturday night Sunday morning at Fort Worth Club. The petting zoo! At Nanny's for the second egg hunt

Passover Break

Working at a Jewish preschool, we had Passover Break this year instead of Spring Break. It was later than everyone's regular Spring Break, but it was longer, too!!! Jason took several of the days off, as well, so we had some fun family time. We planned something for each day that he was off, and one day we had a day trip to Oklahoma. It was a great time and we all enjoyed it and each other! Museum Day We have a new and improved museum and we quickly got a family pass and have already been a handful of times. There is so much to do there, and we can spend hours there without even realizing it. In fact, we bought Planetarium tickets when we went together, but got so busy playing we forgot about our show!! Luckily, they reimbursed us for our tickets. Their favorite room- the arts and crafts room!! Walker's other favorite: the pipes that redirect the water depending on how you place them. I can just see the little wheels in his head turning! Trinity Park and Train We rode the Fores...
