Halloween Weekend 2010

Image
October is quite busy for our little family, but what a lot of fun! After Lucy's birthday, we get ready for our annual bonfire with our favorite neighbors, Peepaw and GG. It has really gotten to be quite a gathering of people! My Dad has even started hiring a kitchen helper so he can enjoy the evening and doesn't have to worry about filling the chip bowl and keeping the food warm. It was a great evening with lots of friends:) All decked out That's quite a pose, vampire girl With their fav bonfire friend, Chris GG had 2 visiting friends that came in for bonfire weekend. We love Lynn and Chris :) HALLOWEEN 2010 Lucy said during Halloween '09 that she wanted to be a witch next year, so we picked up a Witch dress after Halloween last year, for a whopping $5 :) Walker couldn't decide, but ended up with Wolverine. We had been on the lookout for a Wolverine costume for a few years now, so we were really excited to find it!! He was a great Wolverine :) My witchy witch with ...

It's Fall, and I'm glad

Fall is by far my favorite season. The weather, the food, the football- everything great happens in fall. I can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving, but I am excited. I am getting my recipes in order, and getting the long sleeve pajamas out for the kiddos. What I love about fall- - fall clothes. Sweaters, tights, boots, jeans. I love fall clothes. My kids always have an abundance of fall clothes because their birthdays are in fall and I love to get them stuff here and there. - fall colors. This also has to do with the first one, I love orange and red and brown and green. I love fall colors, so of course I love the clothes! Outside, the trees are starting to turn and the sunset tonight was GORGEOUS! - fall food. Pumpkin, sweet potatoes, spiced tea- I love fall food. Roasted veggies (I just discovered roasted acorn squash, mmmm, it was good), turkey, buttermilk pie, gingerbread- so many great flavors during the fall. - FOOTBALL! Oh, Cowboys, how sad I am. My kids keep asking if To...

Fun with pumpkins!

Happy Halloween from the spookiest house in FW Pumpkins are SO fun!! I guess it's because you don't have them all year round (we don't, anyway). My kids had never seen the inside of a pumpkin and I wanted to toast the seeds and have some fun with them, so we set up outside and got our hands dirty (well, SOME of us did). Walker actually got his hand in there and fished some seeds out. Lucy would have NONE OF IT. Instead of carving something, which I am not good at and I didn't want any accidents, I found pumpkin tattoos at Walmart (love walmart!!). The kids had fun with those. We toasted the seeds. You can read all about at my cooking blog , as I shamelessly promote it.

Our week in pictures

Ohh, October. How busy you've become. Painting our pumpkin patch pumpkins: They ended up having more fun mixing the colors and their pumpkins ended up black! My mom's birthday last weekend: Happy Birthday, Gran! Birthday Coconut Cake Monday was a holiday, so my sister and I went to the state fair with the kiddos. My dad says that I have been, but I do not remember such things. It was busy, hot and EXPENSIVE. I'm not sure this will make the cut as an annual thing for us. From the aerial tram: The "train" that Walker and Lucy chose to ride Cotton candy!!! I brought a cookie cake up to Lucy's school today to share with her class. She was so surprised! They both had "awesome" days at school, so I took them to the park. The weather is great right now, and they had fun. Here is a frame by frame of my fearless one, climbing the rock wall. Looking forward to birthday weekend fun for my sweet girl!!
