Cowboy Up!

Image
Rodeo Day at school Fun at the Fort Worth Stock Show The Stock Show was great. We saw horses, cows, llamas, a turkey, a giant rabbit- all kinds of stuff!! They really loved it- my kiddos LOVE animals, and dressing up in their boots and "real" cowboy jeans (Wranglers). Lucy started gymnastics on Friday and LOVES it!! She was so excited to go, and she did really good. She loves the bar, of course, because she loves to swing. I'm glad she is finally getting to do something herself after having to watch her bubba do soccer camp this summer and soccer last fall. Outside of gymnastics, before class It got really cold today, really cold. We had fried turkey (the other 19 cents/lb turkey I bought Thanksgiving week!), green bean casserole and twice baked potatoes for dinner. (Sound yummy?? The recipes will soon be at the cooking blog, icook ) And a fire- I just love having fires in our fireplace- I'm so glad we finally got it going this fall/winter. Still loving the Twilight S...

Well, it's official. I could stay away no longer. When I first started hearing about all this Twilight stuff, I thought, "Well, if that had come out when I was in high school, I would have been all over it." Lately, I've been feeling "too old" for stuff. So I stayed away. My youngest sister (16) bought all the books, my mom read the books, I still stayed away. Now, I have always been a major bookworm. It used to drive my dad crazy. I mean, sure, he was glad I was reading, but I would get so involved in what I was reading. I would bring whatever book I was reading (usually Baby Sitters Club) with me wherever we were going- and read constantly. My mom totally got it- because she was the same way. That is another reason I stayed away. I get so caught up in books and characters- I literally had to stop reading a series when I was in middle school because I was getting upset at the bad things that were happening to the characters. Now you know my secret. I get ob...

Friday Favorites

My favorite activity right now is going to the library. The Hebrew Day School I used to teach at was right across from the public library and we went once a week. Since we don't live close to one anymore, I hadn't gone in a while. I have started going again, and it's so fun. When I go, I get overwhelmed in the children's sections. It's just so many books!! And, feeling overwhelmed is one of my least favorite feelings , I have decided to start a system: The books are organized by authors name, so I just sat down at the A's, and picked out all the books I thought my kids would like. So, now I won't be overwhelmed by the whole section, I just look through one letter. Now, I am very excited to go the library and get books for the kids!! We have a lot of books here at home, and the kids do enjoy reading, which is one of my favorite activities too. I also get books for me! I have tried to find Francine Rivers books there, but they don't have a great selectio...

One of my favorite things to do as a child was read books. Babysitters Club started it all!!! My mom understood, but I used to irritate my dad and stepmom because I would ALWAYS be reading. Even if we were just going to be in the car for a few minutes, I would bring my book and read the whole way. It is something that has stayed with me, but since I became a mother, I have not had the time I once did. Right now, I have several books that I am reading. I have never done that before, because I used to finish books so fast. These are the books on my nightstand right now. Birnbaum's 2008 Walt Disney World. The kids favorite right now. You HAVE to read this if you are going to WDW. Really enjoying this book. Very encouraging Nora Roberts- just for fun, easy reads. Classic ROMANCE love the First Lady, but AM NOT enjoying this book This is a SMART book, with lots of good thoughts. Mary Higgins Clark- classic suspense novels. GREATNESS!! Favorite authors- Harlen Coben, Nora Roberts, Mary ...
