Lucy's Birthday Weekend

I'm Four!!!!
We have decided on a family rule: You don't have birthday parties until you are 5. Walker had his first real party this year, and Lucy is looking forward to next year, when she will have her very first birthday party. We still made sure she had a pretty awesome birthday- lots of birthday meals and lots of family!! It started Friday at school and went through Sunday afternoon, Sunday being her actual birthday. On Friday, she got to wear her "Birthday Girl" shirt, have everyone at the preschool sing to her, and she brought brownie bites for her friends. Nowadays, you can't bring homemade goodies for the class to eat, which really bums my cooking heart out.
After school, I drove Lucy and Walker out to an outlet mall. She has been wanting "regular Crocs" and jibbitz. She has Mickey Mouse Crocs, but you can't fit the Jibbitz in the Mickey Mouse Crocs. We went to the Crocs store, and I let her pick out a pair of regular crocs and 4 jibbitz, since she is turning 4. She loved it!! She picked out; Hannah Montana, pink Superman logo, strawberry and the number 4. I also bought the pumpkin one for them both to share. Walker picked out the Joker and Spiderman, since he was being so nice about it being
"all about Lucy".For her first meal, Lucy chose pancakes. Nana went all out and made pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, sausage and really awesome German pancakes. It was so yummy- I am so IN on breakfast for dinner! Nana and Papa have started a fun tradition for opening presents- they write down poems as clues to where their presents are hidden in the house. Lucy is getting her clue from Nana. She knew exactly where to go for this one!Sweet!! Princess shoes :)A princess smile to go with the princess dressBirthday cake #1: Lucy's request- chocolate cake, pink icing with roses on it. Blowing out the candles
Birthday dinner #2: Homemade pizza and fruit salad
Making the pizzas with Peepaw"Reading" her card. She loves looking at the cards- she has done this since her first birthday.A princess tent!!! Awesome!Birthday cake #2: chocolate cake in a crown pan with pink icing and Tinkerbell candle
Birthday meal #3: Pancakes
We went to Ole South Pancake House- it was really good!
Reading her cards again, with Aunt Caitlin's helpBirthday cake #3: Gran's lemon pound cake- my favorite as well
It was a great weekend, and Lucy loved every minute of it. Walker was very good through most of it, although one time he got sad. He started crying, and I asked him why. He said, "I don't know". I asked what he was feeling and he said, "I just don't like other people's birthdays". He is old enough to know that he needs to be excited for her on her birthday and it's NOT about him, but that doesn't mean he can't get upset about it. Other than that, he was a very sweet brother and even got a few little fun things of his own to open thanks to sweet grandparents. A fun weekend- I can't believe I have a 5 year old and a 4 year old, and I can't believe it's almost November. Time is just zipping by!!

Wow. I love the no party thing (too late for me...I've been stressing over Avery's November birthday since September) but you guys still do it up good! So many cakes and such great food! You have such a sweet family. And about the blog blahs, I feel like I have them too. I just don't have time to keep up with my own, much less anyone elses. You have to do what is best for you, but my vote is for us both to keep blogging. I'm just going to not put pressure on myself to read EVERY word of EVERY blog I know. And I'm not going to put pressure on myself to blog frequently. Blah, Blah, Blah... :-)
